CANADA 150
I chose this photo because I believe that it exemplifies the idea of Canadian Spirit. The contrast between the red and green create for a more appealing photograph. Another component of the image that feel makes it a good photograph are the implied lines created by the fences bringing the viewer's eye towards a vanishing point focusing on the subject of the image. The rule of thirds was used in order to side weight the photo; however, having the Canadian flag still in the centre as a reminder of the Canadian spirit that is shown. A motion blur affect is created as the wind blows on the flag and the deepened blue sky gives a person a sense of how it was that day and further provides a story and purpose the image.
As for the treatments made to this photograph, a white balance was conducted and the highlights of the image were increased to compensate for the shadows in the image being brought down. A slightly tighter crop was applied; however, enough of the image remains to maintain the side wighting of the photo. Lastly, the contrast between colours was also increased and the image was straightened out using the lines of the fence.

This photograph was chosen because of the expression exhibited on Kade and Charlize's faces. It is a display of happiness and enjoyment while participating in the day's activities. It includes them playing Canada's national sport showing pride in our country. This photo includes back lighting which makes it quite overblown; however, it emphases the conditions of the environment on that particular day. Adjustments made to this photo include decreasing the highlights in order to somewhat correct the overblown sky and shadows were brought up in accordance with the change to the highlights, as well as making the expressions on their face more visible. The crop was made to the image to balance the between the space above and the space below the image.
Although this image doesn't show as much of the Canadian spirit as the first, I believe that this image captures the spirit of the day. Components of the image that portrays those aspects include the Canadian "passport" with the punches showing for participation in all of the day's events and sweat droplets illustrating the weather and environment that day as well as the energy exerted when taking part in the fun activities of the event. There are hints of red that do show Canadian spirit and too creates a good contrast between colours making the photo more eye-catching. Once again this image is side weighted and uses the the fencing in the background to straighten the image. A tightened crop was applied in order the balance the space between the top and bottom of the image. Other edits to this image include deepening the contrast of the colours and rising saturation in the sky to actualize what the camera was unable to capture about the day and what the day was like. Shadows were increased and highlights were brought down in order to correct some of the overblown areas of the photograph.
